Thank you, Madam Speaker. Let me start from the onset that as IFP, we support this adjustment budget because it will speed up the service delivery in our communities. Madam Speaker, we need this budget to be operational as soon as possible because some of our communities are congested and they are still mushrooming with shacks without proper bulk infrastructure, which causes health hazard to our communities because of sewer blockage day and night.
Look at what is happening in Alexandra Township, Ivory Park, Diepsloot, Orange Farm, Zandspruit, Slovo in Crosby and Kya Sands, etc. As IFP, we welcome the money allocated to the logic in Alexandra Township, which shows the commitment and the political will to change the lives of our people in Alexandra Township under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Herman Mashaba. Even blind person can see changes are taking place since the coalition government took over from the corrupt administration of the ANC.
Look at what is happening at Helen Joseph Women's Hostel. There has never been maintenance since it was built in 1972 until the coalition government came dynamically and start maintaining it while the ANC administration was using Helen Joseph Women's Hostel as a stepping stone to get votes from innocent souls. Under the same breath, the ANC administration marginalized the hostel dwellers in terms of service delivery. Under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Herman Mashaba, today hostel dwellers are considered as human beings in the city of Johannesburg
as enshrined in our constitution of the country under the Bill of Rights. Madam Speaker, hostels were demarcated by the apartheid government, separating wives from their husbands, fueling tribalism intentionally for their divide and rule strategy, and the ANC followed suit in the same strategy of sidelining the hostel dwellers. Thanks to the coalition government for prioritizing the hostel in the city of Johannesburg as part of the community. We also welcome the budget allocated to Economic Development Department, which is going to assist the youth to get jobs in order to alleviate poverty. I thank you, Madam Speaker.
